Frequently Asked Questions

Are all of your services covered by insurance?
No. Insurance coverage depends on the type of service you receive.
Clinical psychotherapy may be covered by your health insurance when medical necessity criteria are met and your plan includes behavioral health benefits.
Coaching, PREPARE/ENRICH facilitation, Bible studies, spiritual care, speaking engagements, and other non-clinical services are educational, consultative, or faith-based in nature and are not psychotherapy. These services are generally not covered by health insurance and are offered on a self-pay basis.
If you’re unsure which service is right for you or whether your insurance may apply, please contact us before scheduling. We’ll be happy to answer your questions and help you choose the option that best fits your needs.
What's the difference between psychotherapy, coaching, and spiritual care?
We offer a few types of services, each designed for different needs.
Clinical psychotherapy is provided by a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and is intended to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, insomnia, and other emotional or behavioral concerns. Psychotherapy may be covered by insurance when medical necessity criteria are met.
Coaching is educational and goal-focused. Coaching helps individuals develop healthier habits, improve wellness, build skills, and pursue personal growth, but it does not include diagnosis, treatment of mental illness, or psychotherapy.
Spiritual care, including Bible studies, discipleship, and faith-based support, focuses on spiritual growth and encouragement. These services are not psychotherapy or mental health treatment.
If you’re unsure which service best fits your needs, we’re happy to help you determine the most appropriate option.
What is PREPARE/ENRICH, and is it counseling?
PREPARE/ENRICH is a research-based relationship assessment and educational program designed for dating, engaged, and married couples. It helps couples strengthen communication, resolve conflict, and build healthier relationships.
PREPARE/ENRICH facilitation is educational and coaching-oriented. It is not psychotherapy, does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, and is generally not covered by health insurance.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), my scope of practice includes the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions through psychotherapy. It does not include prescribing medications or providing medication management.
As part of therapy, I may provide general psychoeducation about commonly prescribed psychiatric medications, including their intended use, potential benefits, common side effects, and the role they may play as part of an overall mental health treatment plan. I can also discuss your experiences with prescribed medications, document your self-reported response, help identify barriers to taking medications as prescribed, support medication adherence when appropriate, and—with your written authorization—coordinate care with your prescribing healthcare provider. Decisions regarding starting, stopping, or changing medications should always be made with your prescribing clinician.
I may also provide general, evidence-based education about nutrition, lifestyle factors, dietary supplements, and herbal products as they relate to overall mental wellness and healthy lifestyle practices. This information is provided for educational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice or as a recommendation to start, stop, or change any medication, supplement, or herbal product. Because supplements and herbal products can interact with prescription medications and certain medical conditions, you should consult your physician or other qualified healthcare provider before making any changes.
If you are interested in a medication evaluation or ongoing medication management, I am happy to coordinate care with or refer you to a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, primary care provider, or other qualified prescribing clinician.
Do I have to be a Christian to receive services?
No. Everyone is welcome.
We provide compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals from all backgrounds, beliefs, and faith traditions.
What is Christian counseling?
Christian counseling combines evidence-based psychotherapy with Biblical principles when requested by the client. This may include prayer, Scripture, or discussion of spiritual beliefs as part of treatment.
Christian counseling is available for clients who wish to integrate their faith into treatment, but it is never required. We respect each person’s values and individualize treatment to align with your preferences and goals.
